Paul R. Lawrence Ernst & Young150x150Paul R. Lawrence is a Partner with in Ernst & Young and a leader in its Federal Government Consulting Practice. Paul’s professional career has been devoted to improving efficiency and effectiveness of government, working with senior leaders who want to deliver better results.  He specializes in providing findings and results based on empirical analysis, presented clearly so that lay audiences can understand the impact on their decision-making.

He serves as the Partner-in-Charge of the Ernst & Young “Initiative on Leadership,” which resulted in the publication of the book Paths to Making a Difference: Leading in Government in 2011 and a second, expanded edition in December 2012.  For these books, Paul interviewed 32 senior leaders in the Obama Administration repeatedly over their first three years in office. The books provide insights based on these Political Executives transitioning into their roles and dealing with management challenges.

Previously, he was a Vice President at Accenture, a Vice President at IBM and a consulting Partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers.  He has testified before Congress and several state legislatures.  He was twice selected by Federal Computer Week as one of the top 100 public service business leaders.

Mr. Lawrence earned his Master of Arts and Ph.D. in Economics from Virginia Tech. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, graduating Phi Beta Kappa.
