Leaders in Logistics Joins PostalVision in Defining Global Postal “USO”

The organizers of Europe’s leading Post & Parcel 2019 Europe conference are partnering with the PostalVision 2020 Initiative to bring together thought leaders from all over the global postal ecosystem to consider the meaning of “Universal Service Obligation” for their customers and for each other.

PostalVision 2020’s ninth annual conference, Embracing “the USO”– Opportunities for the Global Postal-Parcel Ecosystem, will be held at The Ritz Carlton Pentagon City, June 5-7, 2019. Leaders In Logistics will join PostalVision in extending invitations to key representatives of global posts, regulatory agencies, trade associations, consultancies, mailers and shippers, and transportation, logistics and delivery service providers throughout the world.

Defining “USO” is a Global Issue

At this critical transformational time of declining mail volumes and growing parcel shipments, global posts are facing existential challenges to meet their obligations for providing communications services to growing populations in expanding territories. Yet by applying innovative solutions to address the growing demands of ecommerce delivery they are developing new opportunities and business models that redefine what it means to be a “post.”

Online shopping on the border-free Internet is one thing. Getting consumers’ goods through customs and delivered at low cost in foreign countries is something else. Conventional cross-border trading platforms, customs and regulatory procedures are not keeping pace with a growing flow of goods. The traditional Universal Postal Union terminal dues fee regimen is being challenged as inequitable and the United States has announced its intention to withdraw from the 192 – member global network.

“We are thrilled to expand our reach from the U.S. to stakeholders all over the greater postal world through our new partnership with Leaders In Logistics,” said John Callan, founder of PostalVision 2020. “Especially at this time of rethinking cross-border postal working relationships, we are eager to invite stakeholders from throughout the global postal ecosystem to discuss optimal operating models for the future.”

For problem solvers, innovators and bold thinkers, these challenges represent opportunities that will be discovered and discussed by global postal experts in June at PostalVision 2020/9.0.

“We are very much looking forward to working in partnership with John Callan and his Postal Vision team. Leveraging our combined expertise and knowledge will bring enormous benefits,” said Philip Doyle, Director, MarketforceLive, ‘”and we look forward to spreading the word about PostalVision’s ninth annual conference to be held in the Washington DC area June 5-7.”
